Questions, Answered
Custom cabinetry in Calgary: FAQ
How much does custom cabinetry cost in Calgary?
A full custom kitchen for a Calgary home typically runs from $25,000 to $75,000. Vanities and smaller built-ins usually start between $4,000 and $12,000. The quote is itemised in writing after a design consultation, and it reflects the size of the room, the door style, the wood, and the hardware.
How long does a custom kitchen project take in Calgary?
Most Calgary kitchens take 8 to 14 weeks from the first design consultation to installation. We confirm that timeline in writing before any deposit. Qualifying rush projects are a separate program.
What is the difference between custom, semi-custom, and stock cabinets?
Stock cabinets come in fixed sizes and rarely fit Mount Royal homes without filler. Semi-custom cabinets allow limited changes to standard boxes. Hempston Home builds fully custom cabinetry for the room, the storage, and the materials you choose.
Do you serve areas outside downtown Calgary?
Yes. We design, build and install custom cabinetry throughout Calgary and area, including Mount Royal, Elbow Park, Britannia, Roxboro, Aspen Woods, Springbank Hill, and in other communities across Alberta. We also install across Canada and the United States.
What materials and finishes do you offer?
We use solid hardwoods such as walnut, white oak, maple, and cherry, plus painted MDF for Shaker and inset doors. Soft-close hardware, dovetailed drawer boxes, hand-applied stains, and sprayed conversion finishes are part of a Hempston Home kitchen.
Where are your cabinets made?
Cabinetry for Calgary homes is built in Canada. We design it for the room, deliver it, and install it. We install across Canada and the United States.
Do you offer kitchen design services?
Yes. Design is included in a Hempston Home project in Calgary. The designer plans the layout, storage, lighting, and appliances, then provides drawings and material samples before we build.
Can you build any cabinet style or colour?
Yes. Hempston Home is a fully custom cabinet maker for Calgary homes. The doors and colours on this site are examples. We can build the profile, wood, paint, or stain you specify, including a match to a photo or an existing piece.
Do you offer a warranty on custom cabinetry?
Hempston Home warrants cabinetry workmanship for 5 years. Manufacturer warranties on hardware and finishes are passed along in the project agreement.
Do I need a permit for a kitchen renovation in Calgary?
Replacing cabinetry on its own usually does not need a permit in Calgary. A renovation that moves plumbing, electrical, or walls usually does, through the City of Calgary. We coordinate with your contractor. Permit details are published at calgary.ca.
Is GST included in your Calgary quotes?
Written quotes for Calgary show the price and the applicable Alberta tax (GST 5% (no provincial sales tax)) before any deposit.
